Analysis: The best response rates for online surveys. These are the results.
Influencing parameters for the qualitative success of online surveys
There are countless parameters that have a greater or lesser influence on the quantitative success of an online survey. This refers to the data return, i.e. the number of feedbacks, also known as the response rate. Possible influencing parameters include the following:
- The length and complexity of the questionnaire
- The selection of the target group/survey participants
- The ease of navigating the questionnaire
- Responsive questionnaire design & the general layout
- The comprehensibility of the questions
- The structure of the questionnaire
- The time when invitations to participate are sent out
In this blog article we would like to address the last point, namely the question of when is the optimal time to send invitations to participate in an online survey in order to get the greatest possible response.
The optimal time to send invitations to participate in an online survey
We are often asked during project discussions when is the best time to invite potential survey participants to take part in an online survey. Now our analysts have evaluated thousands upon thousands of feedback from hundreds of online surveys and compiled the results for you. For reasons of data protection and confidentiality, only the time stamps of the incoming feedback were evaluated. This means that we cannot differentiate between industries and areas, but the existing data still provides an interesting insight.
The question: When did the most feedback arrive on our servers, divided into week by month, day of the week and time. And these are the results:
The optimal day of the week
The optimal day of the week for sending invitations to take part in online surveys seems to be TUESDAY, followed by Monday. As expected, Sunday is the day with the lowest feedback response.
The optimal week within a month
In our study, we recorded the strongest response in the fourth week of a month.
The optimal time
Between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. local time, our servers received the greatest amount of feedback.
Summary
Of course, due to the fairly simple nature of collecting and evaluating feedback data, these results are not a guarantee that you will receive the most feedback when you receive invitations on a Tuesday between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. in the fourth week of the month to take part in your online survey so that your potential survey participants receive it at the appropriate time. As described above, there are a variety of parameters that influence feedback return. We recommend that you draw conclusions about when is the best time for you to send invitations to participate in online surveys based on your own experiences and your own data response.
